The SOS64 ‘Zen’ pack contains 96 captures of the (original, version 1) Hermida Zendrive in each of the ToneX, NAM Standard and NAM Nano formats. (Full details above.)

Considered by many to be the quintessential, ‘Dumble-in-a-box’, the original Hermida Zendrive has aquired an almost mythical status. In reality, it’s an incredibly dynamic, responsive pedal that’s unique approach and sound has seen it garner high praise from some of the world’s most renowned guitar players.

Excelling at expressive lead tones, the Zendrive has graced the boards of Gary Clark Jr, Robben Ford, Brad Paisley, Vince Gill, Elliot Easton, Dave Kilminster, Sonny Landreth, Larry Carlton amongst many others.

Here’s what a few of them have to say about the pedal:

“I tried it out and fell in love with it.” —Robben Ford

“Really smooth and musical with a nice harmonic factor. It seems to adapt really well to different amps…” —Sonny Landreth

“One of the best sounding overdrive pedals I’ve ever heard… fabulous.” — Vince Gil

In order to dial in the pedal effectively, it helps to understand that the ‘Voice’ knob is a pre-drive EQ whilst the the Tone knob functions post-drive. In practice, Alfonso Hermida suggests that if you move the Voice, ‘all the way to one side’ (higher numbers; clock-wise) ‘you get more treble and gain...and on the other end’ (lower numbers; counter clock-wise) ‘you get less gain but more fat.’ When used in conjunction with the actual gain knob, this is where the secret sauce is. It takes a little practise but, when you’re dialed in, the tone knob can then be used to tweak the top end.
